What is a hoarding?

Hoarding is a mental health condition that causes great difficulty with discarding, or parting with possessions.

Throwing away certain things can cause a lot of distress, sometimes anxiety and sometimes shame.

Initial causes of hoarding could stem from stressful situations that have happened in life, triggering the disorder. It is also liked to neurodivergence, depression and anxiety.

What happens to the stuff?

We sort through absolutely everything to separate anything that is good for reuse or repair. We never dump anything that could be of use to somebody; and you'd be surprised how much we can find homes for!

There are certain situations that we may have to dispose of contents, and have often found vermin in some properties. Our initial assessment for quotation will detail what we believe can be saved, and what must go.

When we provide a quotation we will advise how long it is estimated to take, and how we intend to approach it.

As we clear we will advise what other things may need attention to get the property how you want it (we will point out any damages, potential hazards, advise on cleaning etc).

Anything we find that is clearly personal, such as photos, or items you have asked us to look out for, we will keep to one side to check before we remove them.

How much does it cost to clear a hoarded house?

Every house is different; we understand that you need to know the costs involved, but we also believe in the importance of providing you with an accurate quote.

The value of the goods removed, or cost to recycle them, along with the volume of goods to be cleared, the mileage and loading distance all make a difference. Discounts are given for quality, saleable items.

We offer a free quotation at the property, and can collect keys or access a key safe if you are not up for meeting at the house.
